Nigel Davison originally studied at the University of Creative Arts in Farnham and achieved a 2.1 in Three Dimensional Design and Printmaking where he won first prize in a national printmaking competition. He has had one man exhibitions at the Grabowski Gallery, London and the OneOneSix Gallery in Tenterden. He has also had sell out shows with the Trinity Arts Centre, Tunbridge Wells and Artists Open Studios. Recently, he illustrated with his wood engravings, a limited edition artist's book entitled 'The Singing Line' with Kentish songwriter and poet Bob Kenward. He has work in the collections of Adelaide University Library, British Library, Saison Poetry Library and many other private collections worldwide.
He generally works in ink on paper either directly from nature or from extensive visual research carried out on long rambles or cycle rides through the Kent countryside. His intention is to create a genuine 'sense of place' interpreting through paintings and wood engravings what is unique and truly compelling about this county.
He lives and works in Maidstone.
