Mary McFaddon

For the past twenty years, I've been working in ceramics and feel fortunate to have my studio nestled at the bottom of my garden. Over this time, my nature-inspired work has evolved to reflect the countryside, meadows, and woodlands that surround my home and workspace.

More recently, I've also been drawn to explore abstract designs and patterns applied to classically inspired forms within my work, a direction I've been actively developing. This body of work I call my Greek Collection.

All of my pieces are created using slab-building techniques. I've always preferred the freedom of hand-building, even though it can be a time-intensive process, as it allows for unrestricted design possibilities. I work with earthenware clay and fire at 1080c, as I appreciate the vibrant and colourful palette it allows me to achieve at a low temperature.
