Nelly Harris

My pottery journey started in the late 60s with local evening classes. I then dabbled on and off until 1992 when things got serious as I embarked on a 2 year City and Guilds course tutored by Brigitt Head. Over 30 years ago I had joined the Kent Potters Association which has widened my ceramic horizon.
Originally, I mostly worked on the wheel, making domestic ware. Nowadays I concentrate on hand building and creating sculptures.

Over the last two years I have branched out into teaching. This gives me the opportunity to revise, trial and evaluate new methods of pottery as well as opening the door for others to get involved in ceramics. Through all of these experiences I have learnt that there are no limits to creativity with clay.
