The Pilgrims Way Art Group was formed in 1996 in Lenham, Kent by a group of friends who were both professional and amateur artists who met together on a regular basis for Life and drawing Workshops.
Under the auspices of Bruce Argue the leader the first Summer Show of members work was held in May 1997 in the magnificent medieval Lenham Tithe Barn, by kind courtesy of John Boyd Farms. The exhibition now in its 14th year has grown into one of the largest and best selling art events in Kent exhibiting over 300 works in every medium including ceramics, glass and sculpture, all offered for sale.
Now known as the “Pilgrims Way Artists” membership of the group is by invitation and is limited currently to 25 exhibiting artist members. The group has an almost equal number of hon.associates/friends who are enthusiastic supporters of the aims and objectives and may attend meetings and social events and give freely of their time to assist with the organisation of the exhibition, held in May each year. The show is planned by all the Members and associates/friends being allocated to working Teams who are dedicated and responsible for every aspect of the organisation, publicity and stewarding of the Show.
Subject to available exhibition space in the tithe barn a very limited number of guest artists are also selected each year to exhibit with the group.
